Ingredients

  • 2 cups Tomato sauce or ketchup
  • 1/2 cup Apple cider vinegar or Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup Dark brown sugar or molasses or maple syrup
  • 2 Tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Ground mustard
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp Liquid smoke or hot sauce optional
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Gather all your goodies. In a medium saucepan, mix the tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, dark brown sugar, and maple syrup.
  • Heat it up on medium-high. Stir in the spices and let it simmer on medium-low for 20-30 minutes.
  • Add liquid smoke or hot sauce for that extra depth. Taste and tweak the seasoning as you like.
